All-Energy`06
The All-Energy exhibition and conference is the UK’s largest event devoted to renewable energy. The sixth in the annual series is being held in Aberdeen 24 and 25 May 2006 at a time when the outcome of the Energy Review will be of key interest. Admission to the exhibition and conference is free of charge to all with a professional interest in renewable/sustainable energy.

This year’s event features a packed conference with a ministerial plenary session on Day One and a debate on where our electricity will come from to open the second day. The conference features four parallel sessions - during the course of the event topics covered will include onshore and offshore wind (including the innovative DOWNVInD project); wave and tidal, carbon capture and storage; bioenergy; hydro; hydrogen and fuel cells; microgeneration; and renewables for communities; and challenges and opportunities ranging from finance and funding to skills; the grid to overseas market opportunities; and a response to climate change from the power industry to innovation from Norway.

All-Energy 2006 will include companies supplying, or able to supply, the large range of equipment, components and specialist services needed by the industry - for onshore and offshore wind, wave and tidal, hydro, hydrogen and fuel cells, solar and biofuels. It is very definitely an event aimed at companies wanting to expand, eager to rise to new, exciting and profitable challenges, stake their claim on an involvement with a fast emerging and serious business opportunity, and to use as a springboard for exports.

It is not just equipment that is needed. The renewables industry offers opportunities for the sort of expertise for which Aberdeen-based offshore industry companies including offshore operators and lead contractors are world-renowned. This distinctive contribution includes project management and systems integration; strategic planning including management of planning consents, external and public affairs management and partnership issues; services, including offshore construction, facilities management (catering and accommodation), logistics and management of operations in remote locations; and asset management.

The following grid from the Scottish Enterprise project Winning Supply Business in Wind Power Projects was presented by Dr Andrew Fellows (then with Garrad Hassan and Partners) at the very first event in the All-Energy series. It not only encapsulates the types of equipment and services needed by the renewables industry as it moves offshore, but remains as true today as when it was presented in February 2001.
